Spend a Day at the Queens Zoo

Everyone, no matter his or her age, can enjoy the zoo. New York City has many different zoos from which to choose, but when you choose some of the more popular zoos, you might find that you don’t get to see all of the animals that you would like. If you live in Queens, or you are visiting on a vacation, you might want to check out the Queens Zoo.

The Queens Zoo has 11 acres, and it is right inside Flushing Meadows Corona Park. The zoo has over 75 species of animal, so you are sure to see some of your favorites while you’re there. Wander through all of the different exhibits and get up close and personal with the animals. Here’s a list of the different habitats that you will see when you are at the zoo, as well as some of the animals in them.

The Woodland Trail is home to many of North America’s predators. You will be able to see pumas, Canadian lynx, and owls in this area. In addition to the predators, you can see elk. The Aviary is full of many different types of birds from cardinals and egrets to ducks and turkeys. You can see porcupines here as well.

In the Great Plains exhibit, you can watch coyotes, bison, and pronghorn antelope. The Domestic Animals exhibit offers rabbits, cows, goats, and other barnyard animals. Check out the Sea Lion Pool during feeding time so you can watch the California sea lions in action. Along the South American Trail, you can watch Andean bears, parrots, and tiny deer. The Waterfowl Marsh features cranes, swans, and other waterfowl.

Visiting the zoo is a wonderful way to spend the day, and your entire family will appreciate the incredible experience!
