5 Things to See in Flushing Meadows Corona Park

If you are looking for something fun to do in Queens this weekend, you should head out to Flushing Meadows Corona Park. The park offers a wide variety of different activities for people of all ages. Here are just five of the great things that you will be able to see and do when you visit.

Number One: Visit the New York Hall of Science. This building was erected for the 1964 World’s Fair. Today, it is the only hands on science and technology museum in New York City.

Number Two: Watch the Mets at their new ballpark, Citi Field. While they were known for playing in Shea Stadium, where they won the World Series decades ago, they now have a brand new ball field to call their own. Come out to the game and cheer on your beloved team from Queens.

Number Three: The Queens Museum of Art features performances and films as well as fine art exhibitions. You will also want to see the Panorama of New York City, a scale model of the city.

Number Four: Meadow Lake, a 93-acre manmade lake, is a great spot to go boating and fishing. There are trails around the lake that you can walk or ride on as well.

Number Five: The kids will love the Playground for All Children. It has many different activities and places for the youngsters to play. Parents can take a rest while the little ones tire themselves out with all there is to do.

All of these great things are in Flushing Meadows Corona Park, and these are only a few of the things that the park offers. Once you start visiting the park, you will want to keep coming back to see what you missed.

Enjoy the Sports in New York City

If you are vacationing in Fresh Meadows, Queens or in any other part of New York City for that matter, you may want to catch some world class sports while you are in town. No matter the time of year you decide to visit, you will be able to watch some great athletics from all of the wonderful teams the city boasts.

In the summertime, you may want to head to Queens to watch the U.S. Open. The tennis tournament is one of the most popular events in the city. One of the other popular summer sporting events is baseball, and New York is fortunate enough to have two teams! You can watch the Mets or the Yankees, and because there are so many ball games each summer and fall, there is a great chance that at least one of the teams will be in town playing when you are on vacation.

Football arrives in the fall and again, NYC has two teams that are fun to watch: the Giants and the Jets. Tickets for football games are more expensive than the baseball tickets, but if you’ve never watched an NFL game live, you are in for a treat.

The colder months of the year give way to other sports, including hockey and basketball. NYC is home to the Knicks basketball team as well as the New York Rangers hockey team. Soccer fans will be able to enjoy their footie action with the New York Red Bulls later in the year.

As you can see, there is a wide enough variety of sports for everyone. Staying in Queens will mean you are only a short distance from all of the great action. If you’re in NYC and heading to a game, you might want to root for the home team though!
