Families living in this neighborhood have many different choices of schools in which to send their children. Below are some notable schools from this area.

PS 173 is a local school for children from pre-kindergarten through grade five. This school has many Chinese immigrants, some of which speak none or very little English prior to beginning school. Therefore, PS 173 takes special consideration for these students, and the teachers focus on these students, as well as students with special education needs. In 2008, PS 173 began a dual language program in which certain students are able to take their core classes in both Mandarin Chinese as well as English. This program applies to Chinese students and students who want to learn Chinese as a second language.

Francis Lewis High School is home to students in the Fresh Meadows area that are in grades nine through 12. This school is one of the most popular schools in the area, perhaps because of the Junior ROTC program that’s offered. There are over 4,000 students enrolled in Francis Lewis High School, and the graduation rate is just below 85 percent. Approximately 700 students at this school will go into the Junior ROTC program, which boasts a 100 percent graduation rate. Other notable programs at this school include the wide variety of Advanced Placement Courses, eight different foreign languages and a College Now program from Queensborough Community College.
